Holiday Craziness
Last week was a pretty busy week for me. First off we got a snowstorm up here on Thanksgiving Eve (which just happens to be the biggest bar night of the year), but I didn't let that stop me. Some how I managed to make it out to Heather's (which happens to be in the middle of nowhere) without getting lost, because the road signs were covered in snow and I felt like I was driving in a tunnel of snow, but that's Michigan winters for ya and you gotta love 'em! Jeremy was the designated driver for Heather and I so when I got to her house, we decided to drink some Jagermeister, which turned out to be a bad idea for the both of us. I got wild and crazy and Heather got sick. But all in all it was a pretty good time.
Then on Thanksgiving my family started a new tradition. This was the first time ever in my whole life we were not having Thanksgiving at my Grandma's house. We had Thanksgiving with my parents friends......who I've known all my life and consider them my second set of parents and their kids. Their daughter Michelle and I grew up together and still hang out every once and awhile. Anyway being that I was still hungover from the night before the thought of drinking anything alcoholic didn't appeal to me. Until Andrew decided he was going to make margaritas for Michelle and I. 5 and a half of those later.........I was soooo ready to go home and sleep. Which I did........and I wasn't in the best of moods at work on Friday (yes I had to work...no shopping for Shelley).

Elliott Sadler has achieved much success throughout 2004 as he enjoyed the best season of his NASCAR NEXTEL Cup career. By finishing in the top 10, Sadler earned himself a place on the stage at the Waldorf-Astoria for the Awards Banquet on December 3rd. Heading into the last race of the season, Sadler has scored two wins and earned eight top fives and 14 top-10s - also career highs. Elliott is currently ninth in the championship point standings. "That was not the way we wanted to end this year,"said Sadler. "This team has a lot of heart and soul and we wanted to go into next year with some momentum. We'll regroup over the next two months and come back stronger than ever in Daytona."

Monday Night Football
So last night I decided I was actually going to sit down and watch a Patriots game. I haven't really sat down and watched a whole game. I haven't really had time and during NASCAR season I'm more inclined to watch the NASCAR race than the football game. Anyway, last night New England played Kansas City and I decided I was going to watch it. Game time rolls around and I'm getting all pumped. I set my timer on my TV to turn it off in 4 hours so just in case I fell asleep it would turn off. Well I made it through the 1st quarter, after that I was out. I woke up this morning having no idea who won. That ticked me off! But this morning I found out that New England had won 27-19. Putting them at 9-1. GO PATRIOTS!!!

I am annoyed!......So I am going to vent today.
Kurt Busch won the Nextel Cup Championship by only 8 points over Jimmie Johnson. I cannot stand Kurt Busch. I don't know what it is about him that bothers me, but he just really irritates me. When his wheel fell of I thought for sure that he was done for the day, but no he bounced back to finish 5th. The whole NBC broadcast irritated me. I had a headache halfway through the race because every two minutes they would show the points "As They Race" which kept changing and it was really really annoying. I was like ENOUGH ALREADY. It was a very good race but all they did was follow the 5 cars in the race for the championship. Did anyone even know that Rusty Wallace lead?? Sadler crashed too........great way to end the season huh? It was a bad day in NASCAR for me yesterday!

KAHNE WINS IN FIRST TRUCK SERIES START
Kasey Kahne ended an historic night at Darlington Raceway with a milestone of his own -- winning the Darlington 200 Saturday in his first NASCAR truck series start. "It feels pretty awesome to win this race, especially at Darlington," said Kahne, whose lone NASCAR win was in the Busch series last year at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "This is about the coolest track to go to."

Every week I read the Power Rankings on NASCAR.COM this week there are some great ones.
For a little background info, during Sunday's race there was contact between the #9 car of Kasey Kahne and the #29 car of Kevin Harvick. Kevin confronted Kasey after the race.

Thanks to Kevin Harvick for adding some excitement to an already-great race at PIR.
He might have had the quote of the day at Phoenix: "Kasey's not big enough to get out of his car and fight this battle."
What was funny is that you can almost hear the teen-age girls begging Harvick, "If you've got to hit him, Kevin, hit him in the ribs and not his face."
This stuff cracks me up! To read more check out this LINK.
NASCAR Hottie of the Week Carl Edwards
Carl Edwards is the driver of the #99 Roush Racing Ford. He is also racing the Craftsman Truck Series. He moved over to Nextel Cup taking over for Jeff Burton after he left Roush Racing. Carl is known for doing backflips off the back of his truck when winning in the Craftsman Truck Series. This isn't the greatest picture of him, but I was watching the 40 Greatest Road Songs on CMT last night and Carl happened to be on it and looking pretty good. So if you get a chance check it out!

Jose Cuervo you are a friend of mine...............
I had a goal this weekend to get drunk. Unfortunately I accomplished my goal and didn't feel to good Sunday. I also busted my license in half. I have no clue to how I did this. Now I have a Georgia license taped together.......I'm thinking I need to go get my Michigan license now. I think a taped license could cause some problems. Another problem is the fact I was really drunk and when I get really drunk I like to talk. Talk about how I'm feeling and all that good stuff. I'm not really sure if I did that....but if I did no one mentioned it to me.
Congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr. on his win this weekend in Phoenix. I have to say when he wins he gets all excited and its really cool to see that kind of enthusiasim.......its refreshing. Elliott on the other hand crashed again this weekend. Another disappointing weekend for the M&M crew.

I'm jealous of these phones. 2 of my friends got new Nextel's this week. I so want a NASCAR Nextel phone, but here's the problem. They don't have an Elliott Sadler phone. I could get the checkered flag phone, but then if they happen to come out with an Elliott Sadler phone (which I hear could happen in 2005) I would just have to get it. So I I guess I just have to be patient and wait....but these phones are sooooo cool!

NASCAR Hottie of the Week - Jimmie Johnson #48
I haven't posted a NASCAR Hottie lately, but when I discovered this picture of Jimmie Johnson....I just had to post it. Jimmie Johnson drives the #48 Lowe's Monte Carlo for Hendrick Motorsports. He has won the last 3 races on the NASCAR circuit placing him 2nd in points 59 behind leader Kurt Busch. Hopefully Jimmie can overtake Kurt in the races to come, because I do not want Kurt Busch crowned Nextel Cup Champion!

Tim McGraw Owner of Arena Football Team
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tim McGraw plays a former high-school football player in the movie, "Friday Night Lights," and now he's become a part owner of the Arena Football League's Nashville Kats.
Bud Adams, owner of the NFL's Tennessee Titans, announced Monday that McGraw had joined him and Mark Bloom as co-owners of the franchise that Adams revived after the team moved to Atlanta.
"I'm part of the community here — loving football, being part of the community and wanting to support anything that helps this community out," the country singer said at a news conference.
McGraw, whose latest album is "Live Like You Were Dying," will be doing his part to boost attendance by performing for Kats' season ticket holders and sponsors next year.
Jon Bon Jovi is part owner of the Philadelphia Soul AFL team, and McGraw joked he'd do anything to help promote his own new team, even if it means getting on the field with Bon Jovi.
"If he gets out there, I'll get out there because I know I can cream him," McGraw said.
I think i need to become a season ticket holder! I love me some Tim McGraw!

I can't believe how boring my job is........seriously I get excited when someone has work for me to do.......its pretty sad!
I'm joining a bowling league. I kind of got suckered into it. The girl that my friends used to bowl with dropped out, so I was recruited to take her place. The thing I've been trying to explain to them is that I'm not a very good bowler.....I pretty much suck. They won't listen though.....so now I'm going to be bowling every other Saturday night thru December.....FUN! It will be an interesting experience I'm sure. Wish me luck!

What's Your Theme Song?
Shelley, your theme song is Walking On Sunshine!
Your upbeat approach to life makes "Walking on Sunshine" the perfect anthem for you. We can see you dancing down the vegetable isle with your grocery cart, smiling at all the checkout clerks. We sure hope you've had your Wheaties to keep up with your perky pace all day long. This happy, horn-driven tune carries you to work every day. And even in those brief lapses when you're not fully on your game, "Walking On Sunshine" seems to put things in perspective and get you back to your super groove. "And don't it feel good?" Who cares that this tune was a one-hit wonder for Katrina and the Waves? Even that quality matches your one-of-a-kindness. You're walkin' on sunshine and spreading it wherever you go.

Halloween Shopping
Last night Cindy and I went on a shopping spree for our Halloween costumes. 7 of us are going out, 2 guys and 5 girls....so we have decided to be pimps & hookers. We will be Bakers Beauties & Matt's Moneymakers (hence these are the names of the guys we are going out with). For the guys costumes we went to Salvation Army and got some pimpin' sports coats and flashy shirts and only spent $11!!! Then we went to get the hooker outfits. We are all wearing short black skirts, fishnets, feather boa's, pink & black shirts we found at Walmart (that we are gonna alter to be hookerish) and tall black boots. Its going to be great! When we got home we were so excited about our outfits we modeled them for Jim & Loren....needless to say they are jealous that we are going to have SOOOOO much fun while they are in the U.P. hunting......sucks to be them!

When the men are away, the girls will play.....
I had a pretty interesting and exciting weekend. My friend Cindy's husband and the guy I am kinda of sorta seeing (its a long story that I don't want to get in at the moment) went up to the U.P. (upper peninsula for those who are not Michiganders) to set up their deer blinds for hunting. So we decided to have a girls weekend out. It was a good time. I was at home for only a total of like 3 hours this weekend. We went out Friday night to the bar and then breakfast at 3am in the morning. Saturday night we drank at Jimmy B's (Cindy's husband's bar in their basement). I discovered a new drink there....a Dirty Girl Scout. It consists of Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cacao, and milk. It tastes like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie. I LOVE it! Then on Sunday when the guys got home we had a cookout, well actually we had a cook-inside because its so damn cold up here. I'm looking forward to Halloween weekend, that is the next time the guys are going up hunting, and we are already planning for that!

Sorry I haven't posted in soooo long! I've had a pretty hectic life lately. I quit my waitressing job and just got a new job at Cook GM Superstore a car dealership. I am the receptionist, and it is the easiest job I have ever had. Pretty much I answer phones and do busy work. I love it. All the guys are cool, so it makes for a good time at work. Right now the dealership is going through a major remodeling project so the 10 salesmen and myself are in a cramped mobile office (it looks like a double-wide trailer). It's going to be an adventure to say the least!
And now some NASCAR news.....
Elliott Sadler is currently 4th in points, 143 points out of first with 5 races left in the season.

Thanks Chastity for the quiz!
I haven't posted in awhile pretty much because the internet here sucks! I hate dial-up! My new job is going good, I just need to get used to carrying heavy trays of food. I'm happy I am back in Michigan. I missed my friends a lot!
You are SAM! Not a bad person, just very
misunderstood. You try to do right, but trouble
always seems to follow.

Now time for an update on what's going on with me. I start my new job Friday. I'm going to be a waitress at the Bavarian Inn. Its a tourist trap in Frankenmuth. Check out the web site...you can see the wonderful Bavarian dress I get to wear. I can't wait to start because I am completely broke and bored.

I figured it's about time I post about what is going on in my life right now. I'm moving back to Michigan on Saturday. I had some great times here in Atlanta, but I miss my friends soooo much up in Michigan. Plus I'm not doing so great with my finances. I'm working on some job leads, one possibility is working at an Applebee's up there. Keep your fingers crossed for me, hopefully I find a job quickly. Then I'll work on going back to school. As for my living situation, I have a few options. I'm going to move back in my old room at my parents house, just for a short while. My friend Doug just bought a house and he's offered me a room....but I don't think I want to live with him. I'm more inclined to get an apartment by myself. I'll keep y'all updated!

The Rock and Elliott Sadler
Chastity this picture is for you. See we once had a debate dealing with the Rock. Is he hot or not?? He's actually kind of growing on me. The fact that he is a NASCAR fan helps. This is a picture from when he was the Grand Marshall for the Samsung Radioshack 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway. It also happens to be the race that Elliott Sadler won.

NASCAR Hottie of the Week - Kasey Kahne
By popular demand.....the NASCAR Hottie of this week is Kasey Kahne. Kasey is the 24 year old rookie phenom from Enumclaw, Washington. He is in his first NASCAR Nextel Cup season, driving the #9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge for Evernham Motorsports. Currently Kasey is 11th in points, fighting for the coveted 10th transfer spot with 4 races to go until the Chase for the Nextel Cup. Kasey has won the Bud Pole 4 times this year and also finished in 2nd place 4 times. (Sorry about that 2nd place finish at Texas).

Long Time, No Post....
I decided to drive to Michigan on Wednesday for a short little vacation. I had been really homesick and my grandma was in the hospital, so I decided it was a good time to take a trip north. It was a good time, I realized that I missed my friends alot. My grandma is doing alot better now, it was good to see her.

NASCAR Hottie of the Week - Jamie McMurray
This is a new post I'm going to do. Every week I am going to pick a driver to be the NASCAR Hottie of the Week. This week the driver is Jamie McMurray. Jamie is 28 years old and hails from Joplin, Missouri. Jamie shocked NASCAR when he won his first race October 13th, 2002 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It was only his 2nd start in the Winston Cup (now Nextel) Series as a substitute driver for the injured Sterling Marlin. In 2003 he was named the Raybestos Winston Cup Rookie of the Year. This year is his second season driving the #42 Texaco Havoline Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing. Jamie is currently 14th in points, 109 points out of 10th place.

Congratulations to Casey Mears on winning the Bud Pole at Indy. This is his 2nd pole in a row, his first ever was last weekend at Pocono. Casey broke the track qualifying record posting a speed of 186.293 mph. Elliott Sadler qualified not too far behind Mears. Sadler will start 3rd on the grid for the Brickyard 400.

CHEERS to imagining Elliott Sadler winning not just one, but TWO races.
CHEERS to another top-10 for Mr. Consistency, Elliott Sadler. I don't know if you've been paying attention here, but I'm thinking with his consistency and what seems to be just enough assertiveness, we might be looking at this year's champion.

Post Race Quotes From Elliott Sadler
ELLIOTT SADLER - NO. 38 M&M's TAURUS (FINISHED 10TH) "We had a good, strong car early on and we kept making adjustments. The crew did a great job and got me some track position, but we also had some miscues after halfway. It was up and down at the end there and we just dug too deep of a hole to get out. It's a shame because this M&M's team really has tons of talent, but we just seem to have crazy stuff happening to us lately. We just had an awesome car and worked hard all day, but the pit mistakes cost us big-time. I'm sure we will regroup and get them at Indy."
YOU PULLED OUT A TOP-10. "Yeah, we just never gave up. We had fuel problems and had a tire roll across pit road. We took a Top-5 car and kind of put us in the back and it's hard to make those kind of passes, but we never gave up. To come back and finish 10th and get all the points we could is a great day for us. I'm just really tired right now and I'm worn out. I just want to go sit in the air conditioning."
A LOT OF GUYS HAD PROBLEMS AROUND YOU IN THE POINTS. "I haven't looked at the points yet, but it definitely helped us. Now we can go to Indy and try to race for the win."

Sadler Chases Down a Top Ten Finish
Today in the Pennsylvania 500, Elliott Sadler broke a streak of finishes 15 or worse by finishing in 10th place. Sadler may have had a good day, but he also had some help. 4 of the drivers also in the top ten in points struggled. Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, and Kurt Busch all failed to finish (whoo hoo!!). With these drivers struggling, Sadler moved up 2 spots in the point standings. Now with 6 races to go until the Chase For the Nextel Cup Elliott is now 6th in points. All in all, a good points day for the #38 M&M crew!

Congratulations to Casey Mears for grabbing his first ever career Bud Pole for Sunday's Pennsylvania 500.
Elliott will be starting his M&M's Ford from the 5th starting position Sunday. Check out this article on NASCAR.COM, about my favorite Virginia boy. He says this about his car, "This is the best engine I've ever had -- ever in my life." Sounds like he should be hauling ass this weekend. Thankfully I don't work a double on Sunday, so I should be able to actually catch part of the race.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives...
Once again I am officially addicted to soap operas. At 1pm I watch Days, while I flip to All My Children during commercials. At 2pm I usually don't watch anything, but I'm starting to get hooked on One Life to Live. At 3pm I watch General Hospital, which is my favorite soap. I really like Days of our Lives, but the storylines are so farfetched its hard to watch sometimes, and they just recast Belle and I cannot stand the new girl.......she is a very bad actress.
The interesting thing is, if I happen to miss any of these episodes, they all happen to be reaired on SoapNet. I guess there are worse things I could be addicted to, so I'll deal with this soap opera addiction.

This is my new favorite song, by a country artist named Amy Dalley. Check it out!
Men Don't Change
He was a bad boy and I was a good girl.
He needed me to smooth out the edges.
Well, he'd get his drink on and flirt with the ladies,
After two years of his crap, I quit beggin'.
I'm a magnet for the "fixer-upper man."
If I know it's fire, why do I let it burn my hand?
Cupid works for the devil: be suspicious if he cries:
"You know sex is usually good.
"Yeah, but it ain't always right.
Chocolate is a band-aid, no matter what they say,
Shoes don't stretch,
An' men don't change.
My friend Lisa, she loves a liar.
She found out about his other girlfriends.
He makes excuses, so she forgives him.
An' she swears she's gonna leave if he screws up again.
But he's good looking, that's why she don't see,
He's got her exactly where he wants her to be.
Cupid works for the devil: be suspicious if he cries:
"You know sex is usually good."
Yeah, but it ain't always right.
Chocolate is a band-aid, no matter what they say,
Shoes don't stretch,An' men don't change.
Instrumental break.

Here's a pic of Elliott Sadler getting into his #38 M&M Ford during a practice session at New Hampshire International Speedway. It was an up and down day for the team. The left front of the car was damaged during an altercation involving Jimmie Johnson and Ricky Craven. Elliott finished 15th in the race and is now in 8th place in the points standings. I hope he steps it up a notch at Pocono next weekend.

Dale Jr. Update
Still hurting from burns suffered in a practice crash last weekend at Sonoma, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will sit out Friday's activities at New Hampshire International Speedway. Martin Truex Jr. will qualify the No. 8 Chevrolet and will take over for Earnhardt on Sunday after Junior starts the race. Earnhardt plans to get into his No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet for practice Saturday and will start Sunday's Siemens 300 to earn the NASCAR Nextel Cup championship points before giving up the driver's seat to Truex.

So the site looks a little different today......
Say Goodbye to Behind Blue Eyes and Hello to The Drive. I took some advice from Kate and decided to do a little makeover to my site. With the some help finding a template from Heidi, I began the transformation. Considering the fact the majority of my posts are about NASCAR, I gave it a NASCAR theme, well more like an Elliott Sadler theme (for those who don't know, he's my favorite driver). Let me know what y'all think!

Dale Jr. Crashes During Practice for the American LeMans Series
This is a picture from inside Dale Earhnhardt Jr.'s Corvette C5-R. Earnhardt was driving a Chevrolet Corvette C5-R in a 30-minute practice session when the accident occurred. The car spun and impacted a barrier in the Turn 8 section of the road racing track and then caught fire. Earnhardt escaped the car on his own. He suffered moderate burns on his chin and his thighs. I was at work today when I saw the crash on TV and I kid you not, everyone in the entire restaurant was watching. It was amazing to see that kind of crash and for someone to just walk away from it. Good thing he was wearing a full face helmet! I don't think anyone's going to be talking about Tony Stewart this week!

Sometimes Life Sucks!
Tonight at work I seriously screwed up. Somehow I lost money. Not a good thing at all. So I'm feeling like shit right now. It seems like I can never catch a break, of course I have to screw up.....its my destiny! One of my co-workers, made me feel better and told me that it happens to the best of us, sometimes it just gets so busy and with handling a lot of cash mistakes are bound to happen. He said it happens to everyone at least once. I'm just pissed because of course it wouldn't happen on a night I made shit for tips, it has to happen on a night I was doing really good. I just know I shouldn't dwell on it....I'm going to move on....tomorrow is another day...oh wait it's already tomorrow.....
On the upside it looks I might get trained in as a bartender. I'm not sure though if that is a good or a bad thing.....
