"I went to a NASCAR race and a hockey game broke out."
This is a quote I heard today, I thought it was pretty funny. It seems the story of the week in the motor sports world will be about the Tony Stewart/Kasey Kahne altercation during the Tropicana 400. At first after watching a tape of the race and Kasey's comments before he himself had seen what happened I though maybe Kasey was at fault. But tonight after seeing an interview with Kasey Kahne on Inside Nextel Cup, I believe Tony Stewart was a little impatient and this wreck could have been avoided. Kasey had taken on only 2 tires in the prior pit stop. Tony had taken on 4, so obviously he could get into the corner faster, and had he not punted Kasey out the way, surely he would have passed him anyway given the fact he was on newer tires. So I admit that Tony Stewart was a little impatient. But all this talk about him being suspended I don't really agree with. This kind of stuff happens all the time in racing....its a "racing" incident. Robby Gordon booted Jeff Green into the wall later in the race. Why isn't everyone making a big deal out of that incident??
